Find your way around the artist's page - Part 1
 Schprocket, posted 11/17/08 10:03:54   » Schprock's How-To Series... comments 0

Dear Visitor,

Maybe you've rocked up by Google-accident, perhaps you've been the subject of artist-spam grin, or maybe you're here because you've heard about this place.

In any event, there's a bit more to the TTM Band Room than a bunch of dudes and dude-ettes laying their respective talents out for all to hear.

Aside from seeing that people have had a listen, we don't have much feedback at the moment so I'd like to bring your attention to the panel located to the right of this blog.

The following info should be correct for all artists but some of the items may not be available to all Listeners or Visitors

INFO - The first panel is where you can see the artist's selected genre and clicking on it will show all artists in that genre. In the same section is locale, and again clicking on the locale name will reveal other artists in the region.

RATING is an overall rating that's an aggregate of all of the artist's rated songs. Be careful when you click - there's no going back. Clicking on the left is a low rating, high on the right.

MEMBERS is more for bands - solo artists will just have themselves. Clicking on the artist name here will reveal a sort of mini-information screen. In addition, if you're a signed-up Listener or Artist, you may send any of the artists in the list a private message by pressing the blue button on the right of the box, if this section indicates that the artist is online. e.g. send a message to Paul, George, John, or Ringo.

DETAILS has several subsections and this is the meaty bit for giving your constructive criticisms or pledges of undying fandom wink

info - links you the the artist's/band's profile page, if it's not the default. use this link to find out what the artist/s are about

comments - signed-up TTM Bandroom members may leave the artist some feedback here. This will be public.

guestbook - if you're not signed-up, you can leave a comment here. Constructive criticism and positive feedback welcome. Leaving "You Suck" simply because either the music and/or the artist has the effect of a taking to your listening sensibilities with a cheese-grater is neither helpful nor necessary. If you don't like anything due to personal taste, just listen to something or someone else. This, like the comments, will be public

contact this profile - this sends a message to the artist - similar to the message under MEMBERS however this goes to the maintainer of the profile. e.g send a message to "The Beatles".

share this page - found an artist you'd like to show to people you know? This is the link to click on!

press kit - currently converts the Artist/Band Info page plus the headlines for the two most recent blogs as latest news into full colour pages which should print up very nicely to a color printer... not sure if the data may be saved electronically but there are active links within the press kit.

Stay tuned for more Artist Page How-To's !

Stage-patter....

Over at SoundClick there's a section on your band-bio for "Favourite Spot?" which reminded me of the "I really love your country" spiel you get from visiting artists :)

One of the most memorable bits of stage patter I remember which involved "Favourite Spot" was Paul McCartney's tour back in 1993/4/5 (can't remember) when he said to the Western Australian crowd, "Heyyy! We went up to Monkey Mia... Saw some dolphins..." with the sort of "How cool is that?" look of expectation on his face. Of course, you can travel 50km's instead 600 or so and see 'em.. you just can't pet them. Anyway, he was greeted by this silence which basically said "Ye-e-es... a-a-and...?" then he went straight into an old Beatles number :D.

Anyway, to save myself from the Potentially Embarrassing Pause, I have devised the following script which, if you print it up and hand it out at your next gig, will ensure you're a favourite everywhere you go.

G'day !

Hi All !

This is a welcome ( a proper one) to anyone who I've sent a 'brag' link to.

This section of TwoTrack Music is still undergoing beta testing so please bear with us.

If you're interested in becoming an Listener or an Artist, please feel free to sign up but be wary that it may all be wiped out since it's 'under construction'.

If you'd like something a little more 'regular' like a forum, please feel free to join the Two Track community at

http://www.twotrackmusic.com/forums/index.php?action=forum

Cheers!

Schprockie

Like... Whoaaaaaa!!!

Apparently the "Schprock + goatee" aka 'Yeller Terrer' photo has been causing nightmares amongst users so I've uploaded something a little less sinister... maybe...
